RES is a Spanish Unique Scientific and Technical Infrastructure (ICTS) distributed throughout the territory. RES nodes are interconnected through RedIris, the Spanish academic and research network, which establishes the connections and enables the transmission of enormous amounts of data.

Currently, the RES is composed of 14 nodes located in different research centres and universities over Spain, which offer their computing and data exploitation services through the competitive calls of RES.

The nodes provide a percentage of their total computational power to RES users. The total computational power is more than 22 PFlop/s.

In addition, the nodes also provide a percentage of their total storage capacity to RES users. The total storage capacity of RES is planned to exceed 180 PB in 2023.
