This year, the RES Users’ Conference and the HPC Advisory Council Conference will take place in Santiago de Compostela on 28 and 29 September. They are addressed to RES users, potential users of RES and PRACE supercomputing facilities, researchers on computational science and companies involved in HPC technologies.

The HPC-Europa3 project provides funding for researchers working on computational science to visit HPC centres and/or scientific hosts in Europe to foster new scientific collaborations. Visitors are funded for travel and accommodation during their stay, and they are provided with an amount of computing time suitable for the approved project. Next closing date for applications is Thursday 7th September.

The MareNostrum supercomputer is beginning operation and will start executing applications for scientific research on the 1st of July. MareNostrum 4, hosted by Barcelona Supercomputing Center, is entirely aimed at generating scientific knowledge and its computer architecture has been called ‘the most diverse and interesting in the world’ by international experts. It will provide more than 60 million computing hours per quarter to RES users.

The Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES) will provide 74 million of computational hours to researchers during the second quarter of 2017. The Access Committee has accepted 107 projects, and the awarded researchers will have access to RES resources from 1 July to 31 October.
