Magerit supercomputer has formalised its withdrawal from the Spanish Supercomputing Network and will no longer offer resources to RES users. The Centro de Supercomputación y Visualización de Madrid (CeSViMa), which hosts the Magerit node, has been part of the RES since 2007.

Last Tuesday, November 20, the Centro Tecnológico de Supercomputación de Galicia celebrated 25 years since its foundation. The President of the Galician Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, the President of CSIC, Rosa Menéndez López, the Mayor of Santiago, Martiño Noriega, and the new CESGA director, Mauro Fernández Dabouza, participated in the event.

The new ICTS map was approved last November 6 by the Scientific, Technical and Innovation Policy Council. The Spanish Supercomputing Network was already part of the previous edition of the map, but the new version formalises the incorporation of three nodes. The ICTS map includes publicly owned infrastructures that are unique or exceptional and provide services to the research community through open, competitive calls.

The Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES) will provide near 150 million computational hours to researchers during the third quarter of 2018. The Access Committee has accepted 115 research activities, and the awarded projects will have access to RES resources from 1 November 2018 to 28 February 2019.

The RES Users’ Conference brought together, one year more, researchers working with HPC technologies, RES technicians and RES coordinators. Near 100 participants attended this event, which took place in Valencia on September 20.

This year, the RES Users’ Conference and the HPC Advisory Council Conference will take place in Valencia on September 20 and 21. The objective of these events is to be a discussion forum to share experiences about the use of supercomputing technologies and to promote the dissemination of research results.
