The First Spanish HPC Combustion Workshop took place on Barcelona past Friday 2nd of June. It was organized by Daniel Mira and Mónica de Mier, researchers from the CASE department of Barcelona Supercomputing Center. The workshop was introduced by the CASE director José María Cela. Amable Liñán, President of Combustion Institute, welcomed the participants.

The workshop aimed to present the state of the art in modelling and simulation techniques for combustion applications in the national context. The invited speakers Laurent Y. Gicquel and Heinz Pitsch gave the plenary sessions, and eight speakers from several Spanish research institutions participated in the technical sessions with a 20-minutes talk. Finally, there was an open discussion panel about the industrial use of Combustion Simulations.

The RES promotes the organization of scientific seminars, which address supercomputing technology applications in specific scientific areas. These events are open to the entire research community and aim to disseminate RES resources and activities, as well as to contribute to increase the know-how about HPC technologies among researchers.
