Towards RDA Iberia: research data sharing without barriers

The Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES), jointly with Maredata (a Spanish network about Open Research Data) and INESC TEC (University of Porto), organises the event "Towards RDA Iberia". This workshop will take place next 4th April 2017 in Barcelona and will promote the participation of Spanish and Portuguese research stakeholders in RDA (Research Data Alliance) activities.

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center organises the 9th Research Data Alliance (RDA) Plenary Meeting, which will take place from 5th to 7th April 2017 at the Barceló Sants Hotel, in Barcelona.

The collocated event “Towards RDA Iberia” will be held the 4th April 2017. This workshop aims to lay the foundations for the creation of RDA-Iberia, a branch of RDA similar to other national/regional organizations that are being set up in several European countries. It is co-organized by The Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES), Maredata (a Spanish network about Open Research Data) and INESC TEC - University of Porto.

 

About RDA

Research Data Alliance (RDA) is an international organization focused on the development of infrastructure and community activities aimed to reduce barriers to data sharing and exchange, and promote the acceleration of data driven innovation worldwide. With over 4900 members globally, RDA comprises individuals, organizations and policy makers representing multiple industries and disciplines.

RDA Plenaries are held every six months in different places around the world. They are special working events that help move the community forward in creating tangible deliverables that improve data sharing across disciplines, technologies, and countries.

About RDA Iberia

The workshop Towards RDA Iberia aims to provide the Iberian research community a deeper knowledge about RDA objectives and actions and to promote the participation of Spanish and Portuguese research stakeholders in RDA activities. It will be an open event, which will facilitate exchange of opinions and a plural discussion forum among all the research data stakeholders (researchers, technicians, data professionals, policy makers, infrastructure and data providers, librarians, computer scientists, etc.) interested in RDA.

 

The preliminary programme for this event is:

12:30-13:30: Welcome and Introduction

13:30- 14:30: Networking lunch

14:30-16:00: Lightning talks and debate
