The Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES) participated in the 6th European Forum for Science, Technology and Innovation (Foro Transfiere), which took place the 15th and 16th of February in Malaga. A representative from the working group RESxPYME was invited to the discussion forum about Big Data, and informed of the supercomputing infrastructures and services that the RES can offer to SMEs.

Foro Transfiere is a big professional and multidisciplinary forum of Spanish Innovation. It is a business opportunity to find potential technological partners from the scientific area and business sector. In this year edition, more than 4,000 participants attended this event.

The discussion session about Big Data was organised by the Technological Platform Planetic, and aimed to analyse the development of Big Data technologies in Spain (supply and demand of technologies and data) and to define the most priority topics for future investments. Elisa Cahué, from the Institute of Biocomputationa and Physics of Complex Systems (BIFI) at the University of Zaragoza, took part in the round table to provide the perspective of the supercomputing infrastructures and to inform about the RESxPYME working group. In this session, the participants emphasise the possibilities of collaboration between companies and supercomputing centres to adopt the new technologies related to Big Data.
