The Spanish Supercomputing Network will provide 18 million of computational hours to researchers during the first quarter of 2017. The Access Committee has accepted the 32% of the requested activities, and the awarded researchers will have access to RES resources from 1 May to 30 June.

The RES Access Committee has published the list of accepted activities for the next period (P1-2017). The RES has make available 18 millions of computational hours to 49 research projects.

In this call, the amount of awarded hours has been significantly reduced because of the stop in MareNostrum 3 activity. The updated MareNostrum 4 will be operative next July, and it will provide about 60 million of computing hours per quarter to RES users.

Among all the awarded activities, most of the resources have been granted to research projects in Physics, Mathematics and Engineering (36% of the awarded hours), and in Chemistry and Materials Science (26% of the awarded hours). About one third of the total received applications has been accepted, and the researches must use the awarded computing hours from 1 May to 30 June. You can view in detail the accepted activities in the Research section of our website.

The selection of the proposals has been made based on criteria of scientific excellence, technical quality and impact of the expected results. The deadline for applications to get access for the next period is the 10th of May of 2017, at 11 a.m. (CET), through the online form of the RES Intranet.
