RES will offer more than 60 million CPU hours for R&D activities during the second period of 2017, from 1 July to 30 September. Researchers can apply through RES intranet to gain access to these supercomputing resources.

The Spanish Supercomputing Network offers High Performance Computing resources for R&D activities on the 13 connected supercomputers. The computing time is granted by means of competitive calls. Those researchers interested in gain access to RES resources can submit their applications through the online form available in RES intranet until next Wednesday, 10th of May (11.00h CEST).

The evaluation process goes through three phases. Applications are first evaluated by a Technical Panel, which assess the technical appropriateness to HPC architecture. Then, each application is evaluated by two reviewers from the Scientific Expert Panel, and the reviewers send their reports to the Access Committee. This Committee will publish the final list of accepted activities on June 2017.

Next period, RES will increase the computing capacity of the available machines and will offer more than 60 million CPU hours per quarter. Users might gain access to the new supercomputer MareNostrum 4. In addition, racks from MareNostrum 3 will be distributed among several RES nodes, where they will be still available for RES users.

More information about the application process and the evaluation criteria in RES website and in the RES Access Protocol document.
