This scientific seminar, which had the support of the Spanish Supercomputing Network, was organized as a parallel event of the Biannual Meeting of the Real Sociedad Española de Física (RSEF) on 18 July 2017.

The scientific seminar High Performance Computing and Modeling of Atmospheric and Ocean Sciences took place in the facilities of the Institute of Agrobiologic Research of Galicia (IIAG-CSIC) in Santiago de Compostela, on 18 July 2017. This workshop was organized as a parallel event to the Biannual Meeting of the Real Sociedad Española de Física (RSEF), which was held on the same dates in the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Santiago de Compostela.

The workshop programme included several presentation leaded by experts that addressed several issues related to the simulation of Earth system, focused both on scientific and computational point of view. In addition, the agenda included the attendance to the plenary session of the RSEF Biannual Meeting given by Rolando García. The event was organized by Juan Antonio Añel and Michael García, researchers from the University of Vigo, with the support of CESGA. More than 50 researchers from several Spanish universities and research centres participated in this workshop.

The RES promotes scientific seminars, which address supercomputing technology applications in specific scientific areas. These events are open to the entire research community and aim to disseminate RES resources and activities, as well as to contribute to increase the know-how about HPC technologies among researchers.
